It's For The Birds!

It's For The Birds Blog Hop!

Thanks to Madame Samm and I piece 2- Mary

I too love to watch the birds and I enjoy them coming to the feeders. Here is what I finished for the hop.
It is a panel that I machine quilted. I outlined the birds and some of the fruit so it would stand out.  I really like this one and will hang it up in my home.

Here is a set of place mats I made this winter.

This is another panel that I quilted and use as a spring wall hanging.

With another bird fabric I mad an apron (sorry, no photo)
and then used the left over material to make some ornaments.

Hope you enjoyed my bird projects and will be sure to visit the others that are listed today.

Bloglovin

As most of you now know, Google Reader is closing in July.  Many quilters have switched to Bloglovin  and I am following their lead and now using Bloglovin as my reader. I will be keeping up with all of you from there.  <a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/5216341/?claim=uey8cwadhmm">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

Two small finishes

Good morning all!

It is a very cold but sunny day and I am so grateful that the sun is shining.  Can't take many more of these dreary days. Today I am going to the Genealogy Society Meeting in town.  I've been working on my ancestry for some time but just recently joined this group.

I have a couple of finishes to share with you today. 1st is a purse that I showed you awhile back when it was in progress of being made. Here it is done.

The other day I made a tote bag for my grandson in CA. who will be 3 in a few weeks.  He loves his cars and trucks so the material is great for his bag.  Now he will have something to carry his cars in.

I purchased some material to make myself an Irish quilt.  The solid green will be the backing and I'll use some other shades of greens to border the main fabric on the front.

I'm still visiting sites from some of the blog hops and I must say there is a lot of beautiful things being made  out there in blog land. Other than that I am still embroidering the Sun Bonnet Sue blocks and hand quilting my leaf quilt.

Hope you are having fun with your projects too.

Ice, Ice, Ice!

My whole driveway has been covered in 1-2 inches of ice that formed under the snow. yuck!  For several days I have been going out and spending some time breaking it up and throwing it off to the side.  There has been so much snow that there is no place for it to drain off as it melts.

Anyway, I got out the leaf blocks I did a couple of months ago and got the sashing added. It is now sandwiched and I have started hand quilting it.

Last time I went shopping I purchased some Irish print material and backing.  I want to next make an Irish quilt. Yes, I do have some Irish in me!

I also purchased some heavier material with little cars and trucks on it that was pretty cute.  I'm going to make a bag for my soon to be 3 year old grandson to carry his cars, etc., in.

There is going to be another blog hop from Madame Samm starting  April 24th called "Shake Your Pom Pom's".  I'm not going to be a part of this one, but if you are interested check it our at Madame Samms.

Back From Vacation

Actually I have been back for a week, but I am just now getting back to a normal routine! You know the drill, unpack, do the laundry, get things put away, clean the house, do the grocery shopping, etc.  And I went one day to my bird club meeting, and another to visit a friend and have lunch. So I am just now getting back to doing a little sewing.

I finished two of the little round place mats that look like pizzas, did some embroidering on a sun bonnet sue block, and cut out some 8 1/2 inch squares to give to my neighbor as part of her birthday present.

When shopping I bought some Irish print material that I will make a quilt with, and some heavier material in blue with some cars on it that I will make a bag for my almost 3 year old to carry his cars in.

Florida was great, mostly warm weather, and we got to spend time with the kids. Went to the state fair, a Mardi Gras parade, dinners out, and went to St. Augustine which was fun. Took time to get near the water and get some bird photos. Also went to see hubby's nephew and one of his brothers. I guess we accomplished quite a bit in 2 weeks.

Although I haven't done much posting I have tried to keep up on reading all of your blogs.

HUGS AND KISSES

It's all about love in the Hugs and Kisses Blog Hop.

This hop is brought to you by Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt

Today is my day.

I needed something simple that wouldn't take too long to do as I am getting ready to go to Florida.  If you are here now, then I am now in Florida. I did this post ahead of time so it would be ready to post from Florida.  OK enough about Florida, just because I'm now where it is warm doesn't mean I have to rub it in!

I wanted something different. As I was shopping one day I saw this pretty light pink Tshirt and my idea came to me.  Hearts on a Tshirt!  And I'll have a new shirt to wear in Florida! (sorry). Here's what I did.

I cut out hearts from my fabric, layered it on batting and quilted them. Added a backing, and stitched them to my shirt. Springtime fresh looking and not just a Valentine's Day shirt.

This picture shows the pink better. See, simple and fun.

Previously I had made a Valentine's Day monthly wall hanging.

I'd like to mention that my husband and I got married on Valentine's Day so our anniversary is tomorrow! lol, dare I day it?  We will be celebrating in Florida. A son near Gainsville, a daughter near Clearwater, and we are going to visit St. Augustine. I know I'm going to love it there.

Hope you liked my little projects. Be sure to visit the rest of today's blogs for more great ideas.
